WHAT: We're back for our second year! These have been great building blocks for our kids' to use in public speaking and confidence building. Precious Freeman is leading this amazing new communication forum for homeschool kids. These sessions will teach children how to read social cues and necessary tools for effective communicating. "We are going to call it "Cupcakes and Convo!" We meet once per month. Some of the time the children get together and have one main topic of conversation. Then, we will get them together around my workstation and let the conversation begin. They will learn how to add value to conversations which a lot of times is like double Dutch because you've got to find the perfect time to jump in. It will have some awkward moments and a few silent ones BUT overtime it will get easier :) " Other times we may play trivia games or do projects that encourage communication etc. Cupcakes and Convo is scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month from September to May in the George Washington Carver museum downtown Dothan (see directions) ...we have combined ages and that has worked as well! (There is a play area for the younger children, waiting on older siblings.) Please RSVP here on the event page . For those who do not know her, Precious is an entrepreneur who's company manages the esteemed Carver Museum as well as the Murals in downtown Dothan. So please let us know if you will attend so Precious can plan accordingly.
WHEN: We are now meeting the First Wednesday of each month, September 2016 to May 2017. Our first will be Wednesday September 7, 2016 at 10AM. We are usually done in an hour. If a group would then like to go have lunch together or go to the park or the nearby Wiregrass Museum of Art, let Amanda know.
