To Whom it May Concern:
My name is Matt Bryan. I am the chairman for the 2017 Madison County American Legion Oratorical Contest to be held on 28 January 2017 from 10 am until 2 pm at the Madison City Court House. I wanted to take the moment to invite any of your students whom might be interested to enter into our contest.
Students earn double National Speech and Debate Association points when they compete in The American Legion Oratorical Contest.
High school and middle school students of Madison County have been invited by American Legion Post No237 of The American Legion to compete in the Annual American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program.
The subject in the prepared oration portion of the contest must be about some phase of the Constitution of the United States, emphasizing the duties and obligations of a citizen to the United States government. The prepared oration must be the original effort of each contestant and must be 8-10 minutes in length.
We will be presenting cash prizes for the winners of the competition. First place will advance to the District competition in Decatur on 11 February.
High school and middle school students in Madison County who are interested in entering the competition will find complete rules and contest information at www.legion.org/oratorical.
If you have any questions, or any students that would like to enter the contest, please email me at email@example.com.
