Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

January 7, Saturday, 9:00-10:30am (Farm Kids Club) Winter Animal We will be learning about how local wildlife adapts to winter. From changing coats to storing extra food, we’ll explore how animals such as squirrels, raccoons, and groundhogs adjust to the cold winter months. For ages 5 and up with an adult

January 13, Friday, 10:00am (Little Farmers) Where Do All the Animals Go? For Preschoolers with an adult
Join us to answer questions about what happens to animals in winter. Where do they go? How do they survive the long cold winter? Interactive program with crafts, games, and songs.
January 17, 6:00pm (Living Landscapes) The Art of Terrariums
Let us help you master the art behind the creation of a terrarium. This may be the perfect compromise between master gardening and the black thumbed elite, all are welcome. $25 will cover all supplies for an open desert terrarium and a closed tropical terrarium. Limited registration. Cost:$25.

January 24, 6:00pm (Heritage Skills) Hand Tool Maintenance and Care
Let’s start the year off learning how to maintain and care for our hand tools. Back in the day, people took care of their tools and, in return, they lasted a lifetime. We’ll be showing you how to properly care for your tools, from sharpening to oiling the wood handles. Cost: $5/ Person, $10 a File

The gourd is strong, lightweight, and versatile. We’ll learn about its uses from past to present. Let’s have some fun exploring what the Cucurbitaceae family has to offer as we make some gourd crafts. For Homeschoolers kindergarten and up with an adult.
