We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Hello Homeschool Families,

Welcome to the start of the new school year.  We have a variety of offerings this month. For Homeschool Hangout: Would you like to be a writer, but aren't sure how to find creative ideas?   Local author Bobby Matthews will be here to share his experience as an author, and lead us in fun interactive games and activities to help you find your personal creative side.   Homeschool Hangout will be September 20th at 1:00 pm.   Ages 7-12.     You can register here starting September 1st , or you can contact me directly at 205-439-5505.

Also, starting this fall, Kate in our young adult department will be introducing a new Teen-centric Homeschool Hangout for Ages 13-18.  For September, it’s 
Engineering Challenge!  Can you make the best boat using only tin foil? Can you build the tallest tower or strongest bridge using popsicle sticks and binder clips? Join other homeschoolers to find out during the engineering challenge.  Registration required. 6th-12th graders.  Contact Kate in the YA Department @ 439-5512. 

Are you creative? We have fallen in love with the rock painting game and the fun and creative examples we’ve seen hiding all over Birmingham.  On Monday September 11th at 4:00 pm we will be hosting a Rock Painting Craft Party.   We will provide the rocks and the paint, you provide the art and neighborhood hiding skills.   Registration required.  Space is limited.  You can register here. now, or you can call 205-439-5504 during business hours.

Don’t forget to check out Garden Gates ,  Monday September 25th @ 4:00 pm.   An hour of hands-on STEM fun with a nature focus, taught by a representative of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.  Ages 5 and up, Elementary aged. Keep an eye out for our other offerings as well:

Lego Club, Saturday, September 3rd from 10-11:30 in the Children’s Department.  We provide the Legos, you provide the creativity. All ages. No registration required.
Hedgie Hello every Tuesday @ 4:30 pm and Wednesday @ 11:30 pm.   Come say hello to our library hedgehog Oliver in a hands on petting and feeding session,  twice weekly prickly meet and greet.  No registration required.
