Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Nov. 5, 2017 Deadline: Art Contest (All Ages)

Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
Juried Art Show, Water/Ways Exhibit Set for 5 Rivers
Alabamians are surrounded by water. About one-sixth of Alabama’s 33 million surface acres is covered by water in the form of lakes, reservoirs, ponds, wetlands, estuaries, rivers and streams.

Water affects our lives, climate, agriculture, jobs, recreational time, culture, and has a direct impact on our art. Local artists of all ages will have the opportunity to enter a contest and showcase their work alongside the traveling Smithsonian Exhibit, Water/Ways.

5 Rivers Delta Resource Center has been selected by the Alabama Humanities Foundation to host the Water/Ways exhibit, which examines water as an environmental necessity and an important cultural element.

Water/Ways is part of Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street program and will be on display at 5 Rivers November 25 through January 5. As a companion to the Water/Ways exhibit, 5 Rivers is inviting local artists to submit their water-inspired works of art for a juried art show that celebrates our connection to water in coastal Alabama.

All ages are eligible to enter the art contest, and many different types of artwork will be accepted. All entries must be submitted no later than 4pm on Sunday, November 5.

Information on eligibility, rules, and awards for the art contest can be found at http://www.outdooralabama.com/5-rivers-smithsonian-exhibit-waterways or by contacting Kathy Hicks at 251-625-0814 or Kathy.hicks@dcnr.alabama.gov.
