Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Nov. 17 & 20, 2017 Columbiana: Columbiana Public Library Homeschool Programs

Columbiana Public Library has started some programs for homeschoolers: a story time with craft for K-3rd grade, and book group for 3rd-5th grades, one Monday per month, and a movie with pizza one Friday per month. We can be flexible on times for the book group and movie, if a different time works better for participants. In November, the book group is meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Mon., Nov. 20, and the movie date is Friday, Nov. 17 at 11:30 a.m. - "The Secret of the Magic Gourd".

Our library would like to be an asset to homeschoolers in our community by providing educational programs. Also, if there are books that would support your curriculum, please check with us to see if we have them. If we have them in our county system, we can order them from any library in Shelby County, and sometimes even out of the county, and you can pick the books up in Columbiana, and return them to any Shelby County Library.

Please contact the library if you have suggestions for programs, and come check out the book group and movie. If you have teens that would be interested in a teen book club, please let us know.

Thank you,
