Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Dec. 27 - 29, 2017 Bham: Tinker Camp

Parents,

We have had the priviledge of having some of the best volunteers who are so passionate about helping kids learn more about Technology and Coding. Keiah Shauku, is one of our star volunteers, and this winter break, she will be leading a camp at UAB School of Engineering. We are sending this out on her behalf to show support of our partnerships with other organizations who are working towards the same goals as us. We hope that you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

Please be on the look out for 2018 Events!

Tinker Camp

Holiday shopping season can be one the most harrowing times of the year for parents struggling to find meaningful and thoughtful gifts. It is often a challenge to find gifts that will hold a child's interest while at the same time engaging their mind. Sadly, for some parents it has just been easier to buy the "it" giftn and call it a day. This year parents/Santa Helpers have another option: Tinker Camp! Tinker Camp was created to give parents/Santa's Helpers the opportunity to purchase a gift that will capture their child's interest, help them better understand the significance of STEM, and make them conversant with the technology that is shaping their world. Tinker Camp also provides students with a fun and safe place to "geek out" during the holiday break.

Tinker Camp will be hosted by UAB's School of Engineering. Camp will be each day from 8 am-3:30 pm, from December 27th to the 29th. During Tinker Camp students will receive an Arduino Super Starter Kit-to keep. Students will learn to program and use their Arduino to create exciting projects. Students will also be challenged to apply what they have learned to create their own unique projects.

Tinker Camp is for students 12 and up. The cost to attend Tinker Camp is $300. The price includes the Arduino Kit, 3 days of camp, T-shirt, and a certificate of completion. Meals and snacks are also included.
