Dear Ms. Spradlin,
We would love to extend an invitation to Alabama Homeschool families to join us for the Alabama History Day (AHD) competition at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM), on April 6, 2018. Could you please advise us as to the best way to make that connection?
For those who have never participated in NHD, we invite you to come celebrate the research and creative energy that participants grades 6-12 (both in teams and as solo entries) have poured into their history projects. Top ranking students will progress to the National History Day (NHD) competition in June at the University of Maryland.
See what students can do when given the creative outlet to exercise their higher order thinking skills by analyzing and integrating historic knowledge into original documentaries, exhibits, research papers, live performances, and websites. Network with teachers who have successfully facilitated completion of NHD entries. Meet other Alabama folks interested in uplifting the study of history.
It is our hope that witnessing this celebration of the academic discipline of history will invigorate and encourage a return to Alabama History Day 2019 -as participants. Please visit our webpage at www.alabamahumanities.org for information -including student and teacher resources!
Please contact either T.C. McLemore, Alabama History Day Coordinator, or me with any comments or questions. We would love to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Jackson
