Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Feb. 2018: North Shelby Library Events

Hello Homeschoolers,

Happy February!  Here’s our list of upcoming February programs:

Regular monthly Children’s Department offerings include:
  • Lego Play
Saturday February 3rd  @ 10-11:30.   Free Build.  Legos provided.   Build a creation and we will keep it on display in our glass display case for the entire month of January.   All ages.  No Registration Required.

  • Homeschool Hangout (Tween and Teen)
Wednesday  Feb. 21st @ 1:00 pm.
This month we will be combining our Tween Homeschool Hangout, our Teen Homeschool Hangout, and our Homeschool Art Club for a special 2 hour creative extravaganza.
Homeschool Hangout is  participating in the 4th Annual March Quilts community art project facilitated by Bib & Tucker Sew-Op, a Birmingham non-profit with the mission of cultivating sewing skills. Each year Bib & Tucker leads participants in the creation of a community made quilt centered around a social theme. No prior quilting skills are required, our teachers will walk homeschoolers through the process. Each homeschooler can use their imagination to design and create a quilt block to be incorporated into this year’s community quilt.
This year's theme will be Environmental Justice and Awareness. We will be celebrating Nature in all her glory: alternate energy sources, access to national parks, native species, food deserts, or recycling. Or you can select something from nature:  Your favorite animal, flower, river, or tree.  What do you want your block to say? Think about a design idea before you come.   Bib & Tucker Sew-Op have already facilitated the making of 660 quilt blocks. Help them reach their goal of 1,000 blocks this year!
