Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Join us for our Earlyworks Springfest field trip.
$10 per person to be paid upon meeting 15 person min.
Recommended grades 1st-5th, but younger/older siblings welcome to join.

Please post on the Headcount post, and I will be collecting money in advance.

Description:  Step lively thru the red doors of EarlyWorks and prepare to meet Laura Ingalls Wilder in her log cabin, or perhaps be welcomed aboard the keel boat by Davy Crockett. There’s always time to listen to the stories of George Washington Carver, Helen Keller and many amazing Black Americans. Don’t forget that you’ll need to “hitch up your skirts” while outside to dance the Virginia Reel and stop to play when you’ve become winded. Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln and Betsy Ross are just some of the amazing Americans you may encounter while crafting, churning butter, and skipping to the beat of traditional music.

EarlyWorks invites you to come and experience a special end of the school year field trip on the riverfront. Learn about the Native Americans that originally lived in the area. Meet James Ditto and hear his firsthand account of running the ferry in the early 1800’s along with other history about
the towns that grew up along the river. Students will participate in river navigation skills, perform marching drills, discover what soldiers carried in their haversacks, and discuss day to day life in the camps. Classes will also meet with our resident doctor and learn about Native American natural remedies and medicines.
