Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Happy March!  Here’s our list of upcoming March Programs:

Regular monthly Children’s Department offerings include:

·         Homeschool Hangout-Art Alive
Wednesday  March. 21st @ 1:00 pm.  
For this month’s Homeschool Hangout we have rescheduled Art Alive!  If you missed our January edition due to snowy weather, this is the perfect opportunity to sign up!  It will be an elbow deep paint and movement experience, exploring the idea that art is an experience, not a destination.  Dress for a mess!   Perfect for all kids and skill levels.

  • Garden Gates
Monday March. 26th @ 4:00 pm  Learn some basic hands-on gardening techniques from North Shelby Library Children’s Assistant and Master Gardener Carol Hagood, as we get ready to plant our Library Garden in April.  Spring’s on the way; come join the North Shelby Library Garden Club!  Registration required  Ages 5 and up!  Limited spots available.  You can register by calling 439-5504, or clicking HERE.

  • Sensory Storytime
Tuesday March  27th @ 10:00 am.   A snack free, smaller scaled monthly program geared for sensory sensitive children aged preschool and early elementary.  It is perfect for youngsters on the autism spectrum or any child who needs a little more framework or special attention during their storytime experience. Registration required.  Limited spots available.  Register by calling 439-5504 or clicking HERE.

Special Upcoming Programming:
  • Tragic City Rollers
Saturday, March. 10th @ 5:00 pm.    North Shelby Library is excited to have members of Birmingham’s roller derby team, the Tragic City Rollers, come and speak with patrons of all ages about roller derby and give a small demonstration. There will be prizes to win for attendees ages and under, and the team will have tickets and merchandise for sale. The Tragic City Rollers will also have information about their new junior derby league for girls ages 7-18!  This is a fun and active sports opportunity for girls!  No registration required.

·         North Shelby Library Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Saturday, March 31st
9:30 for Birth through 3 years old.
10:00 for 4 years old and up.
Bring your basket and be ready to hunt!  Be prepared for a special visit from a furry, hoppy friend!   No registration required.  Be sure to arrive on time:  Eggs go fast!  Call our children’s department at 439-5504, or email  Kristy at nschild@shelbycounty-al.org if you have any questions.

  • Tech Tuesday
Tuesday  March 13th    @ 4:30 pm
