Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Regular monthly Children’s Department Preschool and Tween offerings include:

·         Tween Homeschool Hangout: Marble Maze Madness
Wednesday, September 19 @ 1 pm
Do you like STEM activities?  We provide the scraps, and you build the maze.  Rube Goldberg Machine, game of skill, or just a simple maze, it’s up to you!  Up, down, or all around, what can your brain engineer?   Ages 7-12.   • Preschool Kitchen Science
Friday September 14th @ 10:30 am
Art and science combine as kids learn to make “Artbots”, little hobby robots that will spin around with markers.  Kids will get to keep their bots!   Preschool age.   Registration required  Limited spots available.  You can register by calling 439-5504, or clicking HERE.

  • Sensory Storytime
Tuesday September 25th @ 10:00 am.
   A snack free, smaller scaled monthly program geared for sensory sensitive children aged preschool and early elementary.  It is perfect for youngsters on the autism spectrum or any child who needs a little more framework or special attention during their storytime experience. Registration required.  Limited spots available.  Register by calling 439-5504 or clicking HERE.

  • Garden Gates
Monday September 24th @ 4:00 pm 
Learn more about adding herbs to your garden and make an herbal craft.  Registration required. Designed for Ages 5 and up!  Limited spots available.  You can register by calling 439-5504, or clicking  HERE.

The Ties that Bind: Preserving Your Family History Through Storytelling

Bert Young has interviewed many of his relatives to collect their stories and preserve them for present and future generations.  He will share what he has found to be helpful in getting people to talk about their memories from childhood and beyond.

This program is made possible by the Alabama Humanities Foundation.This program is presented by Karen Utz and will focus on the labor-related music of the Birmingham district. Migrants pouring into Birmingham’s industrial district, whether from the cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta or the Appalachian hills, carried with them their unique styles of music, as well as their unique traditions and culture. Music of the Mines presents the histories and personal recollections of the musicians and their families, and an outstanding array of recordings ranging from soulful ballads and blues, to union songs and old-time fiddling.
