Hello, my name is Annetta Dolowitz.
I am the program director and event planner for LifeCrafter Foundation. We have created an overnight one week pre-law camp for Juniors and Seniors in high school. I was directed your way by a friend and former member of your Academy, Katie Icimsoy.
As you will see at this link, our goal is to provide an experiential learning opportunity for these students as they are engaging in specific skills in professionalism. The core skills we are specifically emphasizing are reading to comprehend, writing to be understood, and speaking to persuade while critically reflecting. Though this is a pre-law camp, all students gain a competitive edge as they engage in the camps activities that make their college applications stand out.
The camp starts out online first as we give students the opportunity to begin learning about the basic processes of law, and transitions into the classroom to apply what they were reading in the online portion. After the camp has concluded, we will be highlighting different individual writing exercises and team written exercises in a published format for students to refer back to. This includes having a professional writer edit their final team exercise to model what is meant by writing to be understood.
To enrich our camp, each session will be led by a member in the field of law, including judges if their schedule will permit. We will be taking the students on a fieldtrip to Scottsboro as well.
Thank you for your time and consideration and we look forward to answering any questions you may have for us,
Annetta
