Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Aug. 23, 2019 (Deadline Aug. 16), Huntsville: Green Chile Fire Roasting

Who: Open to all ages, but to make it possible for all to see, space is limited.

What: Watching the fire roasting of green chiles

Where: Fresh Market
4800 Whitesburg Dr
Huntsville, AL 35802

When: Friday, August 23rd--Please checking by 11:20 am to be ready for fire roasting to begin at 11:30 am (or as soon as the produce manager is ready).

Why: This is the best part! Fire roasting green chiles is a major part of autumn in New Mexico. Green chiles are so yummy (and healthy), Fresh Market brings the tradition here each August. The heat of the fire roaster, the crackling and popping of the chile skins, and the smell in the air will stimulate your senses.

If you'd like, you can place an order a week in advance (by Friday, August 16th) for your own fire roasted green chiles to complete the sensory experience with the the taste of green chiles in a homecooked meal. You will need to peel and remove the seeds of your own green chiles. (Our family does this with two bushels each August.) This video shows the process. https://youtu.be/XcBZiENaeRI

(You may also choose to eat at Chuy's, where they are currently having their annual green chile festival.)

To place an order, call Fresh Market at (256) 880-9042 and request the produce department. Let them know you'll be there the morning of Friday the 23rd and would like the chiles to be ready for pickup at that time.

RSVP Information: The RSVP and payment deadline is Friday, August 16th. A $5 deposit will be required for each family who wants to attend. If you are checked in no later than 11:20, your deposit will be returned to you.  If you have questions, please text Kari at (505)917-5252. Instructions on how to make the deposit will be provided in this RSVP form
