Hi Deb:
I am a professor of music and the Voice/Opera Director at Birmingham-Southern College (and a fellow homeschooling parent!) and would like to invite Everest Academy homeschooling families to attend our public performance of two one-act children's operas on January 30th:
Chanticleer: The story of the Rooster, Chanticleer, based on the Canterbury Tales. Appropriate for elementary - older students are welcome.
and
A Game of Chance: A story of fate and "careful what you wish for." Appropriate for middle and high school - younger students are welcome.
These performances are free to the public and will take place on Thursday, January 30th. Chanticleer will begin at 10:30 am (40 minutes in length) and A Game of Chance will begin at 1:00 pm (40 minutes in length). We ask that everyone please arrive 10-15 minutes early for each show. Families are welcome to attend both shows if they wish. For all students and parents that are interested, we will be available for a Q & A session following each of our performances.
Those planning to come should e-mail me at: jkensmoe@bsc.edu and include how many will be attending. We have 200 seats available.
BSC is located at:
900 Arkadelphia Rd.
Birmingham, AL 35254
When people arrive, they simply need to tell the officer at the gate they will be attending the Children's Opera in the Hill Building. Take the first two (immediate) lefts, go down the hill, and the building on your right with all the glass door entrances will be your destination. There is parking all along this road.
Thank you for sharing our information and we hope to see many homeschooling families there!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeff Kensmoe
