Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

March 11, 2020
Deadline Feb. 24, 2020

Cook Museum of Natural Science

Have you been wanting to visit the new Cook Museum of Natural Science?  Did you know that the Cook Museum of Natural Science has been selected by USA Today as one of the best new museums in their Reader's Choice travel awards?

Let's go check it out!!!!

Who:  Homeschool students of all ages!

What:  Visit the new Cook Museum of Natural Science.  This will be self-guided visit.  We will not have a guided tour or class.  You must arrive by 9:00 to enter with the group.  The facility is open 9:00 - 5:00, and the price of admission is for all day.  I have been told by the museum that a typical visit usually lasts about two hours.  Please note, this is NOT a drop-off event.  All children must be supervised by an adult the entire time.

The Cook Museum of Natural Science is a state-of-the-art natural science museum in downtown Decatur, AL. It provides a hands-on, immersive experience where kids can explore, interact with, and learn about nature. Students can enjoy a deep dive into animals of the Arctic Desert, climb to the top of “Big Tree”, explore the life-like cave, and more! Students will learn about nature and animals in a way that will spark their love of learning for years to come.  Families leave the Cook Museum feeling fulfilled by their time together and inspired by the things they saw and learned.
