Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Fall 2020, Millbrook: Alabama Nature Center Homeschool Program

Good afternoon!  I hope you are well and enjoying the out-of-doors this summer!  There is lots of nature to be shared!!

We are preparing for the fall season and planning our homeschool adventures.  After much thought and many considerations, we are going to try to host fall home school classes beginning August 19, 2020.
Each 2 hour class will be out-of-doors with hands-on investigation of the natural world.

Due to COVID-19 we will have a few changes and limitations.  Our sign-in and sign-out procedures will change to accommodate social distancing, our small classes will be limited to 10 children per class, and hand sanitizer or hand washing opportunities will be available.  Parents and children are welcome to wear masks but not required at this time.  We will continue to follow state guidelines and may change operational procedures to be compliant with those guidelines.

Registration is now open.
The first class will be Wednesday, August 19th.  Classes will be the first and third Wednesday of each month, September, October, November, and will end December 2, 2020.    Also, class size will be limited to 10 children per class.  Classes may be rescheduled for rain or inclement weather days, usually on an alternate Wednesday.

We are offering two time slots, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 – 3:30 p.m..
Register online here:  https://www.alabamawildlife.org/homeschool-programs/.  Please indicate in the comments box if your child wants to be in the same or different group as a sibling or friend that is the same age.  We highly recommend that your child be with children their same age.  It helps the program run smoother and the activities are planned based on different ages.

Water Wonders Day!  will be August 28, 2020.  This program is a separate program, 1 day, 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Investigate critters that live in the pond, explore hands-on animals that depend on water for their survival, and hike Still Creek with our naturalists as we explore the paths that water takes in the water cycle.  This is an opportunity for families to sign up together.  There may be multiple classes to this day, each limited to 10 children or less.  Registration will be available at https://www.alabamawildlife.org/shop/natureplex-events/homeschool-water-wonders-day/.

Please respond with ‘remove’ if you no longer wish to receive our homeschool emails.
