Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

Merry Christmas!

 

 

Our best Christmas present is ready.  J We are getting ready for spring homeschool classes here at the nature center.  Registration for the 8 classes is open on the website, https://www.alabamawildlife.org/homeschool-programs/.   We will offer 8 classes in the spring session beginning February 2nd, 2021.  Classes are scheduled for the first and third Wednesday of each month, February, March, April,  and will finish May 19th, 2021.  The classes will be offered for either the morning, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., or the afternoon 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. . 

 

You are always welcome to come with your children to the classes as we explore the out-of-doors.  We strive to provide hands-on discovery of the science principles found in and around nature as we teach classes.  Some classes will involve group games, experiments, or crafts, but all classes will provide time to explore out-of-doors unless there is inclement weather.  In these cases, if it is safe to travel to classes, we will have indoor options in our covered spaces.  The topics this spring will be different that topics in the spring and fall of 2021, and fall of 2020.

 

We are also interested in doing a science fair for homeschool families this spring.  Please email me if you are interested in this idea.  If we have enough interest we will work on scheduling it and send out parameters for the program.  Thank you so much.
