Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

September Homeschool Classes

When: Monday, September 12
9:30 - 10:30 am & 11 am - Noon
Added 3rd - 6th Grade Class from 1 - 2 pm
$12 (+ tax) per participant
 

K - 2nd Grade: Living vs. Nonliving

What does it mean to be alive? In this class, you go back to the basics and explore the key characteristics of life with interactive activities, animal presentations, and more!

1 PM CLASS ADDED: 3rd - 6th Grade: Earth’s Place in Space

Why is the Earth just right for life? Join us as we zoom out and learn about Earth’s nearest neighbors, including how the Earth interacts with the Sun and Moon. You will model the solar system, moon phases, and enjoy a visit to the Looking Up Exhibit.

7th - 12th Grade: Domains: Microlife

In this class, you learn about different taxonomic domains by observing cell types under a microscope and building models of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

September Little Larvae Learning Series

When: Wednesday, September 21 from 10:30 - 11:15 am
Cost: $10(+ tax) for 1 child & 1 adult; $10(+ tax) for an additional child
For children ages 2 - 4

Come join the fun in these wonderfully engaging and interactive classes that have the smallest of our guests in mind! In each class, children will learn about various biomes by listening to stories, singing fun songs, and creating nature-inspired crafts. There may be a chance to see one of the Museum’s Animal Ambassadors during a Live Animal Presentation in some of the classes. These classes are designed for a caregiver to enjoy this experience with the child. Admission to the Exhibits is not included. September’s theme is Fantastic Forests.
