Everest Academy is a ministry of Everest Family Church in Hayden. We offer freedom along with quality resources, information, activities and support to those homeschooling in Alabama. We believe that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off church "cover" school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.

HOMESCHOOL SPELLING BEE 2023


Homeschool Alabama has registered with Scripps National Spelling Bee so homeschoolers in Alabama will have a way to participate in it. A student must be registered through a school or organization that is enrolled with Scripps.

To cover costs for the bee, we are charging $10 per family. After registration and payment, you will receive access to spelling bee materials, including word lists.

 

We will use the online testing platform as a preliminary for all homeschoolers in Alabama. Then we will hold an in-person bee for the top 20 spellers on Saturday February 4 (weather date Saturday February 11), in the Birmingham area. If any church schools register separately, then their school winners will be able to participate as well. The winner of the state homeschool spelling bee will represent homeschoolers at the Alabama state spelling bee in March.
