Birmingham-Southern College’s opera workshop will be mounting one of the most popular operas for young people this January: Little Red Riding Hood by Seymour Barab. This wonderful show tells the traditional Little Red Riding Hood story with a few comedic twists. As well, it reinforces important topics such as the importance of education, nutrition, hygiene, and not talking to strangers! This 50-minute show is ideal for grades 2 through 6 and is a joy to watch for adults, and Junior and Senior High School students. However, for some children younger than the 2 nd grade, the stage wolf can be frightening.
We will be performing two shows open to the public and home school families on January 27th at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The performances will be held in Hill Recital Hall in the Hill building. Here is a link to the Campus Map: https://www.bsc.edu/about/map.html. There is no cost for these performances as this is part of our outreach to the Birmingham community.
If you are interested in attending one of our performances, please send an email to jkensmoe@bsc.edu indicating which performance you would like to attend and the number of people in your party to ensure we do not exceed our seating capacity.
Hope to see you there!
